Radio Script Written

WEST MIDLANDS RADIO

A* Hello and welcome to west midlands radio with your presenters Jimmy, AK and Bernard.

J* our radio station is about what is going on in the West midlands area. “So Bernard what’s going on then?”

B* “hmmm, many things such as” Russell brands comedy show sat 9th at 7:30pm at the Alexandra theatre. “What about you AK?”

A* There is also the Walsall Art illuminist show, which will be showing at the Walsall Arboretum. This also a great day out for the family, to enjoy and have fun.

J* Sounds great I have also heard about a historian arts event taking place in Wolverhampton art gallery. They will be displaying work about the 1970 Vietnam War and also old politics and society. It will be a great day out for the elderly and a good learning lesson for the younger generation.

B* You should also check-out the Aviation arts exhibition which is also taking place in the Wolverhampton Art Gallery as they will be producing art work about the battle of Britain’s 70th anniversary, this will also be a very could educational visit.

A* Hey Bernard I heard you went to the Artsfest in Birmingham, was it good and what type of things did they have there.

B* OH YH thanks for reminding me, yh the artsfest was great it a fun and lively. There was lots of music and entertainment it was non-stop fun. They had all-sorts of social media there. There was a variety of arts there such as singing dancing acting and many more!!! There is also a workshop in Birmingham with a company called The Drum which allows 11 – 18 years olds free workshop to dance ad sing.


A* Sounds good Bernard. So here is Jimmy With the latest Headline and Weather Know.

J* Thanks , So today Universities could be charging up to 6 thousand pounds now and also a new injury scare ahead of England game tonight against Montenegro.

J*The people in Birmingham could have the sun reaching up to 13 degrees today but he people in Wolverhampton and Walsall will have heavy showers and maybe even hail.

In the Morning we had been given an A3 sized sheet of paper to design two website templates. I had drawn to design one colourful one and one plain one in the end I chose the colourful one and had edited it, and had planned the hyperlinks and also the WebPages and house style that would go on to my official Diploma Website.

I think I had done well on this task because everything is well organised it will look very colourful but very informative.

I don’t think I could have done any better on this task. I planned well and it looks good. So I had no weaknesses on this task

In the future I would like to create the website and see how it would look.

Today we were researching our venues and researching the media arts scene in the west midlands. Then once we had finished researching we were told to write our 1st report. It had taken me a full three hours to write and make a couple of adjustments.

I thought I had done very well on this task because I done well in the research task by looking up key information and writing in the report.

My weakness was trying to organise the report by making different heading, re-arranging the pictures and also putting the text in relevant sections.

In the future I would like to complete the report get a good grade and organise it properly.

In the lessons we had today we were told to type up our report that we had drafted in the previous lesson. It has taken 2 Hours to type it all up, add the headings and also the header and footer and format the whole text.

I have done well typing the report by making minimal mistakes and also editing the text.

I don’t think I had any weaknesses in this task because all I had to do was type up my report from a couple of pages of writing. If there was one downfall it would probably organising the pictures and the text.

In the future I would like to complete the report format the whole thing and make it look good.

In the lesson today I had gave in my 1st report to my teacher to get in marked. But before I gave it in I had double checked it and changed some of the words and venues

I strengths in this task was looking over my work and not being afraid to make adjustments to it.

I had no weakness in these task because, it was not difficult.

In the future I want to go over the report again and make more adjustments to it.

In the morning for the 1st two periods had to complete a task which we had to research. But before we were going to research we had to watch a couple of video clips on the big screen. The video was about two people and how they feel about there career. They had also said about there previous education was like. Once the videos were finished we were told to go on to the computers and research 4 – 6 job careers in the Media Arts Scene, and then we were told to make a PowerPoint about there careers.

I thought I had done well when I was typing up the information in my own words on to the PowerPoint. I also thought I had done well in the researching task.

My weakness was researching jobs that are not recogised in the media arts scene..

In the future I would like to research more jobs and make another PowerPoint about them.

Today in the1st period we were given back our reports looked at it again and read the teachers comment, and also saw the adjustments she had made to it. Then in period two we had gone on to the computers and added in the adjustments that the teacher had told us to do. Then printed off again and gave it back in.

In think I did well in this task by taking the criticism well and adding in the adjustments. I had also taken out the useless events and changed them for more well known events in the report.

My weakness was researching a new event in the west midlands. Although there are many events in the West Midlands I wanted to choose one which is well known and in the end I did.

In the future I want more feedback so I can edit my report again and so I can get the best grade possible.

Today in the morning our teacher had told us to go on the internet look and have a look at 3 different websites and look around it and see how they make it look appealing. She had also told us to have a look at how they advertise the websites and to see how they present there information. She had then told us to make a 3 page PowerPoint about 3 different websites and annotate them. By annotating I mean draw lines and writ about the parts that you like and the parts you didn’t like.

My strengths in this task was having a look at a number of websites and annotating them. I found this task easy to complete because I picked out the good points and bad points with ease.

I had no weaknesses on this task.

In the future I want to add more websites to the PowerPoint and annotate them. I would also want to add in my own personal ideas to improve the websites.

Today we had started making our websites. It was hard at the start but then we had got used to it. I had used my planning sheet to help me to remember my ideas and also my hyperlinks. I had copied every thing of it but I had to make a few adjustments because it was getting a bit to complicate to understand. The next couple of weeks I had added my radio station sound clip to my website.

My strengths on this task was making the website and also editing it well. Another good point I had done was I had followed my flat plan and kept a consistent house styles

My weakness was the information I had provided, but I did overcome that problem by doing a bit more research and also and more hyperlinks.

In the future I want my website to be completed and I want it to attracting and were people can use, if they need information about the creative media arts scene.

In the 1st and 2nd period me and my group had sat down and designed our script. It took us 1Hour and 30 minutes to complete. We had changed some of events that we had included because they were not suitable for the unit that we were doing. It was a good task to do because we all had our own opinions about different events and pictures.

My strength was ordering the script and choosing the speeches of my group.

My weakness was trying to pick well recognised events. Then the events that we did not like we took out and has replaced them with good ones.

In the future I would like to go on a record my radio presentation because it will be good fun.

In the afternoon we had been taken out of lesson to record our radio station in the radio room. It had taken us about 15 minutes to complete including the re-takes. The first time we had tested it, it was going well until I messed up and burst out laughing with the group. Then we had retaken it and had finished it in our second attempt.

My groups strengths were being able to speak clearly and also record the presentation quickly so then we can go on to our other tasks which we needed to complete.
Our group had no weaknesses because we did not mess it up and we did it quickly. Our only blunder was when we started laughing.

In the future I would want to go on to the apple mac computers or laptops and then, we can voice synchronise our voices and a backing track to it, so it can sound realistic.

Today me Aadham and Ben had sat down together and edited our radio show on the apple Macs. The way we edited it was to speed up the speech and we also changed our voices to alien format. Then we had struggles to get a background beat because we had different tastes in music, but in the end we all settled to a very catchy and basic tune.

Our strengths were choosing the voice synchronising very quickly and also speeding the radio up because it needed a time limit of two minutes.

Our weakness was choosing the background track because we had different tastes in music, and if two members of the group liked one song and the other didn’t, then we had to look for another song.

In the future I would like to add the audio soundtrack to my Wix website and also make a video and add it to my Blogger.

Today we had come into lesson and had got ready to go to the hall and watch the performance by sister tree. We were at the front row. The sister tree act explained the troubles that asylum seekers would have once they arrived in a foreign country. Then in the last two periods we were told to write a review about the sister tree performance.

My strengths were writing the report up and also formatting the report. I had also remembered the key points about the performance and also how, they had explored the creative media arts in their performance.

My weakness was trying to memorise the key points about their performance.

In the future I would like to go to other events in the west midlands were I can explore more creative media arts.

Review of Sister Tree

Review of Sister Tree

On the 18th October an act called Sister Tree who is based in Birmingham; Lozells came to our school and performed.
Sister tree is a group act that performs all around Birmingham schools and act about Immigration and people seeking Asylum in the UK. Its aims are to educate the audience about the hopes, fears that migrants feel & how they are treated

The performance that sister tree had performed today was about Foreign people trying to seek asylum in the United Kingdom. The three people were portraying the lives of an African, French and an Asian migrant. They were showing how they live their lifestyles in there native countries. They had went through by describing who there character was by packing there suit cases then they had pretended to flown to England. The transition they had from scene to scene was the school bell were they would run around until they got in class. Then they started to act as if they were in school. The French girl was getting terrorised by the ordinary school girls but then made friends by teaching them French swears which showed hat she did have something in common with her new classmates. The Asian was in a 50/50 situation by trying to answer the question. She was being told not to answer the question by one side of her brain and the other side was telling her to answer the question.

The arts that were explored in the performance were singing, dancing, drama and also costume designing.

The qualities of the performance for me personally were great. It was good because of they way they performed it because they had got the audience involved with the performance to such as, the singing and a little bit of dancing. The humour that they used was very effective but it had made a good point about new comers trying to seek asylum such as, the Asian woman had a funny accent and the French had her French accent which was hard to understand. They also engaged us by showing us the traditions of there cultures by the Asian dancing, the African being enthusiastic and the French talking about her food tastes.

The impact that the performance had on helping me realise how hard it is for asylum seekers to fit in immediately in the UK. At first I thought it would take them a couple of weeks for them to settle in, but it does take patience and tolerance for and immigrant to settle in a work itself out.

I would recommend this performance for people of all ages, although the people might find he humour a bit childish but it does make a point about asylum seekers trying to settle in the UK.

Job Roles & Description

                              Job Roles in the Creative Media Arts Scene

Director – A director in the creative media arts scene does a lot of things and in a lot of different genres. Such as a creative video game director would have the responsibility to design, visualise and control the game. A creative director is ultimately responsible for the quality of the final product, like a dance director will tell the artist what to do, and how to do it, like what kind of dance moves.


Make-up Artist- A make-up artist has to polish or the act that is about to perform, they will decide whether they would need lipstick, eyeliner or a facial. They will also give the act a bit of a haircut. The job role is to make the artist look good looking and attractive something that the crowd won’t take there eyes off. They are also responsible for what they look like in a photo shoot.


Fashion Designer – They chose what the act has to wear to make them look trendy and make them look good. They tailor the acts clothes measure them up and make them a suit, dress or casual clothes. They also choose what the act has to wear on a photo shoot and they listen to the director if he wants to change the costume a little bit. They add the glitter and sparkles in to performances.


Freelance Photographer – A freelance photographer is someone that works for himself they don’t work for a company or any business they go to one place to another. For example they will go to the Birmingham Hippodrome and watch Shakespeare’s version of Romeo and Juliet then the next day they will go to the NIA or NEC and they will go and takes there photographs. Then after they have finished for the week they will sell there photographs to newspapers, magazines and even to a TV company.

Stage Director – A stage director will work with the acts and help them developing the stage and putting them in to positions on stage and helping them work in bits of action. They also work with lighting effects to make the stage look better and create a theme. They also work with the Costume designer is well telling them what to make. He also works with the set design to make a good looking background.

Script Writer – This person writes the story whether it is on the big screen (Films) or just a normal documentary (TV). He decides what the scene should be the language used the time and setting of the programme. He also decides the characters that are going to be involved; they also have the big role of the story-line so the programme will get the views and also the way the dramatic ending happens. Such as Eastenders when there programme ends there is a huge scene at the end and the credits come on, so the viewer will have to watch the programme the next day to see the climax of the episode.

Cameraman – There job is crucial of the programme because if there is one bad move in the camera work, they will have to shoot the same scene again and again until the director is happy with the shot. There are many different types of shots such as long -shot, mid-shot, close-up and extreme close-up. In the episode of The Bill there was huge pressure on the camera man , because he had to film a two minute hand held camera scene, and it took them a lot of time just to perfect it , and also there car chases and robbery chases were all hand held. Also the camera work was great so it made it better.

Choreographer – This person has a lot of talent inside and he must try a pass it on to the act that will perform. Choreographers are always dancers so they teach a classroom of how to dance until they perfect it. They are also responsible of how long it takes them to learn, if they think they are not capable he will have to tell the Director to move the person out and add a new one. When the performer is by him self with the Choreographer, the Choreographer teach them privately so they can perfect it.
